FrameHunt

An early click-the-picture demo for students practising named bits of the body. Timed, scored, ranked a bit like Times Tables Rock Stars. Started in 2026 with Liverpool’s Institute of Population Health; hosted as a CEDS demo while the idea is still being talked through.

FrameHunt’s home page: Spot the clinical finding. Race the clock, with a skills-lab HUD, Join the lab, and a station card asking to locate a nodule in the right upper lobe.

FrameHunt is a small spotting game I have been putting together with Liverpool’s Institute of Population Health. Students get a picture and a short brief — click the named bit of the body — and the score cares about whether you hit it, how many times you missed, and how quickly you got there. There is a league table and a slightly tongue-in-cheek grade ladder from medical student up. The nearest classroom comparison is Times Tables Rock Stars, except the thing you are practising is where that structure is, not 8 × 7.

It is early. The homepage already talks about nodules, fractures, and a CXR station, because the conversation is heading that way. The cases you can actually click are still the obvious starter pictures, so people can try the loop without waiting for a real image set. Faculty can upload a picture and draw around the finding, which is probably the bit that matters if this is going to grow past a demo. It runs as ordinary PHP and MySQL on the CEDS demos host, which was the point: something we can click in a meeting without a new platform.

I would not call it finished. It is a talking point with the department. The first version, the same day, was a hunt through fake movie stills; the click-and-score guts stayed, the pictures and the dressing changed. Cursor wrote a lot of the wiring. If it goes anywhere, it will be because IPH want to use it with students.

The mashup

Times Tables Rock Stars, named bits of a body, and a PHP page dressed like a skills lab.

AI-generated guess of the mashup mix, 1 to 5. Click a stat.

Times Tables Rock Stars 5/5: Speed, misses, a league table, and ranks from Student up. Not a clone; that is the classroom vibe it is aiming at.

Notes to self for media to add
  • Hero: the play screen with the brief on the left and a body picture on the right, viewfinder corners on, timer running. Cartoon anatomy is fine for now.
  • Screenshot: a miss mark on the picture, then a hit with the drawn outline filled in and the +points burst.
  • Screenshot: league table with Student / FY1 / etc, once someone has actually scored. The empty board is not worth a shot.
  • Screenshot: editor drawing around a hand or a foot, “12 point outline”.
  • Screenshot: the GD stick-person “Anterior view” case, honestly labelled as a starter.
  • Optional before/after: one of the old movie stills next to the skills-lab HUD, if those files are still around.
  • Short demo (30–45s): join, open a case, miss once, hit, see the rank chip. Then a few seconds of an editor drawing a new area and saving.
  • YouTube Short: timer, miss flash, clean hit, grade bump. Super, no voiceover needed if the brief is on screen (“Click the left hand.”).
  • Skip for now: GitHub (repo is still named pixel-finding-game and is not public), admin copy, terminal deploy clip unless the hosting story needs it.
