Vetscape

A veterinary case as a text adventure. Lennox Harlowe was written in Twine, put into Cordova so it could run on a phone, and there is a Unity/Fungus 2D version in another repo.

I wanted a veterinary case students could click through, not a PDF. Twine is good for that. Lennox Harlowe is the case, with an ECG picture and a few goes at making it look less like default Twine. The README says made in Twine, turned into an app with Cordova, and then a todo list I never ticked.

There is another repo in Unity, which is the more visual-novel way of doing a branching story. I have done that a few times: write it in a story tool, then try to wrap it in whatever would run on a phone. It stopped around 2020.

The mashup

A vet case written as a branching story, then wrapped so it can run on a phone.

Twine 5/5: Write the case as passages. Lennox Harlowe, ECG picture and all.

Notes to self for media to add
  • Hero: a Twine passage with Lennox and the ECG, not a stock stethoscope. Restyle if the default Harlowe look is too 2014.
  • Screenshots: Twine graph if you still have the .html in the editor; one in-case decision; Cordova running on a phone or simulator; optional Unity Fungus flowchart.
  • Short demo: open the case → make two choices → hit the ECG. Ten seconds is enough.
  • YouTube Short: “I put a vet case in Twine and then tried to make it an app.”
  • Privacy: fictional case. Fine to show. GitHub is public so links are OK.
